4 years, 4 months

Today, I took the kids for their 4 year and 4 month old doctor visits. Jennifer and Cullen were late due to Cullen's surgery and recovery. Well, it was interesting, since both kids had to get shots.

Cullen thought the first part of his checkup was cool because he was able to show the doctor some of his impressive 4 year old skills. The fun soon ended when the nurse walked in with the shots. Who gets the most? This is what Cullen wanted to know. He went first. He screamed, and with each shot, he got louder. You can imagine how loud he was after the 4th one. I was able to comfort him and offer him a bubble gum sucker to help with the pain. He was very brave!!!

We had to wake Jennifer. I held one arm, Cullen held the other and the nurse had her legs. We both talked to her. Cullen was so sweet. He kept telling her that it would be over soon, and that he loved her. 5 shots later, it was over. She looked at me during the shots like, what are you letting them do to me? I may have cried more than the two of them today.

Cullen's reward for being brave was Chic-fil-a, and Jennifer's was a lot of snuggling and loving.

Cullen walked straight legged until we got to Chic-fil-a. He was O.K. to play on their playground. As we left the pain became to much, and again he was walking straight legged. At about 4:30 today, we heard the tunes from the ice cream truck. Cullen ran down the stairs to the door. He is able to bend his legs again. It is funny how that leg thing comes and goes.

Doctor's report:

Cullen passed hearing and vision tests.

Height: 3ft 7 1/4 in. (95 percentile)
Weight: 39 lbs (25 percentile)

Tall and thin just like daddy.

Jennifer is right on track: rolling over, reaching, grabbing, talking,
laughing, getting up on knees and elbows,
pushing up with her legs, etc.

She will begin solids tomorrow.

Length: 25 inches (75 percentile)
Weight: 12lbs. 15.5 ozs. (50 percentile)
Head: 15 3/4 inches (25 percentile)
Long and thin just like daddy.
It is unbelievable how quickly they grow. Cullen is 4 years old, and Jennifer will be 5 months in a few days. WOW! Cullen is such a smart, big boy, and Jennifer is beautiful and growing way to fast. She will be our last baby. I would love to slow this time down, so I could take in more of it. I love you both very much!

Bumbo Seat

We finally got Jennifer a Bumbo Seat, in hopes that she would like it.
Not to sure...
Aggie gives her approval.

Nomar reassures her.

I like it!!

Not much

Cullen has done great in the healing process. He is ready for anything now. We are going to hit the pool next week.
We have found Jennifer a daycare close to where I work. This is so great because she hates to ride in the car. She screams from the time we leave the house until we arrive at our destination. If we would not have gotten this spot, Brent would have been driving her 30 minutes with him everyday. Everybody in that car would have gone crazy.
Jennifer's 4 month well baby and Cullen's 4 yr. well boy will be June 30. Look out Dr. Mac.
Words from Cullen:
sunscream- sunscreen
rootbeard- rootbeer
muscle-muzzle
eggnorant- ignorant
Irinman- Ironman
Cullen has found another use for one of Jennifer's link toys. Gotta love it!

Photo Shoot 2

Recovery

Cullen is doing great. He was in a lot of pain the first day and night but is handling it well. Yesterday, he ate Chick-fil-a. The doctor said it was fine as long as it was small and slow bites. He is also eating his weight in popsicles, jello and ice cream. Brent made him one of his famous chocolate milkshakes last night. He was going around singing, " Daddy makes the best milkshakes ever. I want more." It is hard keeping a four year old from being active.
The picture below is from the Astros game Sunday. After church we went to Houston and had a Cullen day. He wanted to go to a ballgame, to see Kung Fu Panda, eat Mexican and stay in a hotel before his big surgery. We all had a great time. Too bad the Stros lost. I guess our family in St. Louis were excited about the outcome of the game. We should have stayed in our seats.

Surgery

Sorry, the picture is dark. I did not want to wake him.
This is our big boy at home sleeping without his tonsils and adenoids. He did great during and after surgery. It was harder for mama and daddy than it was for Cullen. When the anesthesia finally wore off, he was excited about the bubblegum sleeping medicine. He said he made the balloon dance. Cullen was very brave, and he has been eating popsicles, jello, homemade chicken noodle soup and sherbert.
Thanks to everyone for the prayers, calls, and gifts!
